Behind the Ocean Institute, there are stairs you can walk down to the beach. The interesting part is that the beach itself is not accessible at high tide and the waters are very rough with lots of rocks. So the stairs are only open to the public during the low tide. After going down the stairs, you can walk along the narrow beach between the ocean and the cliff.

As a software engineer, I have to say I very much enjoyed the tour of the Computer History Museum.

The picture is 'The Utah Teapot', a porcelain teapot on which the widely distributed teapot data set is based. The original teapot was made in Germany in 1974. The teapot has frequently been used to test techniques of rendering three-dimensional objects using computer graphics.

Balboa Park is a 1200 acre historic urban cultural park in San Diego, California, United States.

In addition to open space areas, natural vegetation zones, green belts, gardens, and walking paths, it contains museums, several theaters, and the San Diego Zoo. There are also many recreational facilities and several gift shops and restaurants within the boundaries of the park. Placed in reserve in 1835, the park's site is one of the oldest in the United States dedicated to public recreational use.

Balboa Park is managed and maintained by the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of San Diego.

Tide pools are small pockets of water that form during the tidal cycles.  And La Jolla is a terrific place for tide pooling.    

Its myriad of rocky cliffs and sandy beaches have created an endless supply of nooks and crannies for marine life viewing. The optimal season for tide pooling is December to March when minus tides reveal wider beaches and the tide pools are uncovered.
